       Building a Rainbow

       The puddle at my feet
       grew with every raindrop
       I saw the trees beneath
       Me falling
       the clouds smoking gray
       and a rainbow bursting
       out from underneath.

       Last night as you slept
       I looked at your body,
       your face and your hands

Odine Kleiner is a senior in liberal arts at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She has been writing poetry and short stories for six years.

       Tigerlilies watching as we play;
The bees in clover, high on honey,
Sun heedlessly spilled along their way.
A young man waits for you, his love, to come:
His heart is hopeful early in the day.

I was the man in the pastures of green--
You've seen me in dreams: don't say you can't
Remember the streams of our laughter and song:
As long as the holy streams in the meadow shall flow,
The Angelus bell in the steeple shall go
Right on calling you home to your soul.

       Don't you miss your soul,
